]]>Skin Needling procedures will leave treated skin areas in a highly sensitive and absorbing state, so we recommend avoiding all skin care products containing any kind of ‘active ingredients’ such as retinol, alpha hydroxyl acids and Vitamin C if they are not specifically designed to be used post skin needling.
You can incorporate these products back into your regime 3-5 days after your treatment, or as recommended by your experienced skin professional. Mediluxe provide a range of recommend products suitable for pre and post skin needling treatment. We highly recommend using Hyaluronic Acid post treatment to re-hydrate and nourish the skin.
AVOID USING MAKEUP AFTER THE TREATMENT
Do not apply makeup for at least 24 hours to 48 hours after the procedure as it’s important to allow your skin barrier to heal over. If you do need to apply makeup, we recommend mineral makeup with clean brushes.
Using makeup brushes can irritate the open skin, and if there’s any bacteria on the brushes you run the risk of developing a skin infection.
AVOID SUN EXPOSURE
Your skin will be sensitive to the sun for several weeks after your Skin Needling treatment. To prevent adverse effects, you must stay out of the sun at as much as possible.
We do not advise the use of sunscreen immediately after the procedure as the skin channels are completely open and will absorb anything that is applied, unless using a recommended SPF product. You can also apply a mineral sunscreen approximately 24 hours after your Skin Needling treatment.
AVOID ACTIVITIES OR SITUATIONS THAT MAKE YOU SWEAT
A Skin Needling procedure will cause heat in the skin as a natural stage of healing. If you sweat or partake in any activities that make you hot, it will create further unwanted heat in the skin. It may also allow bacteria to penetrate the skin. This excess moisture can lead to infection, extended redness or an adverse skin reaction.
DON’T TAKE ANY ANTI INFLAMMATORY MEDICATIONS
Prior to and immediately after Skin Needling procedures you should avoid the use of anti-inflammatory medications, such as Ibuprofen, as they will interfere with the natural inflammatory process which is needed for optimum skin repair.
USE A GENTLE CLEANSER
In place of active products a very mild cleanser and barrier cream is recommended to keep your skin clean and soothe any resultant dry skin and flakiness.
DO USE COLLAGEN STIMULATING PEPTIDES?
Collagen stimulating peptides will help treated skin to prepare and recover from the procedure and are an important part of Skin Needling aftercare.
These peptides work by aiding in the stimulation of collagen production and intensify the effects of the skin needling treatment.
APPLY A COOLING FACE MASK
You may experience some skin irritation following skin needling, therefore we recommend the use of a cooling face mask to reduce inflammation and redness, and to make your skin feel more comfortable. These are also available as an Add-On service to your Skin Needling treatment.
DON’T FORGET TO DRINK PLENTY OF WATER
We always recommend you drink plenty of water both before and after the procedure. Keeping well hydrated will assist in faster healing and skin rejuvenation.
ONCE THE SKIN HAS HEALED, DON’T FORGET BROAD SPECTRUM SUNSCREEN
While it’s important to give the sunscreen a miss for the first few days following the procedure, we do advise that you use a broad-spectrum sunscreen once your skin has healed, to prevent unwanted pigmentation and sun damage.

]]>BEFORE HIFU TREATMENT
All chemicals that can irritate the treated skin area should be avoided as this may prevent treatment. Please avoid excessive sun exposure prior to your treatment to ensure skin is not sunburnt or peeling.
If you are on antibiotics, you may have to stop your medications if you are considering taking the HIFU skin treatment. Certain medications like antibiotics or some medications may make your skin become more light-sensitive. If you have any concerns please contact your general practitioner for the appropriate medical advice.
If you suffer from cold sores you may need to take anti-viral medication to avoid a flare up. If you are unwell, please postpone your HIFU treatment until you are feeling 100%.
DAY OF TREATMENT
It is beneficial on the day of the treatment, all make-up and moisturisers should be avoided.
It is advisable that you arrive slightly earlier to your treatment so you can use that time thoroughly to fill your HIFU treatment and consent form.
It is imperative that clients who take anti anxiety medications or strong pain medication, should come with someone who will drive them home after the treatment procedure.
AFTER YOUR TREATMENT
There is no downtime! This treatment is often referred to as ‘Lunchtime Facelift’ due to the fact you can resume normal activities immediately afterwards.
You can return to your normal activities immediately after your procedure without any post-treatment restrictions or requirements.
Your skin might appear pink (flushed) at first, but this will subside in a few hours.
Other, less common post-procedural effects may include temporary bruising or numbness on small areas of skin.
You will feel tenderness in some areas that were more sensitive during treatment so be prepared to take it easy for a few days and we recommend no strenuous activity.
As with any medical procedure, there is the possibility for other rare effects which is outlined in your consent waiver form.
HIFU AFTERCARE CHECKLIST
Aftercare is important to assist with the health and safety of clients bodies, specifically the treated areas. This also works towards maintaining your treatments best results.
We want you to achieve optimal results and success with your treatment.
Avoid too much sun exposure post treatment. This helps to prevent hyperpigmentation and reduce the chance of sunburn and skin damage. The use of sunblock cream is also encouraged, as this will help to prevent destructive ultraviolet light from the sun from directly touching the skin. This should be continued until the skin tightening process is completed.
Avoid too much Alcohol – just for a little while. This gives your liver excess work during the bodies natural healing process to targeted treated areas. Your liver is tasked with breaking down the deactivated fat caused from this treatment.
Don’t scratch your skin (treated area). Your skin may be very sensitive, and scratching it puts you at the risk of skin damage. Gentle skin cleansing is recommended post treatment as you may feel some deep tenderness.
Drink plenty of water post treatment. Water will also help in your recovery by increasing the rate at which collagen is produced in the body and flush out any toxins released during your treatment.
We recommend avoiding scorching hot baths and showers post treatment and instead aim for warm water on the treated areas.
